The original 4/3/2/1 rewards structure was replaced by the new 5/3/1 structure which in general represents devaluation for most customers.
The Conclusion
With the November 2019 revamp, this card becomes less attractive.
The Facts
- Annual Fee: none
- Signup Bonus: $100 after you spend $500 within 3 months of new account opening.
- Rewards: 5% Uber, 3% dining & airfare & hotels, 1% everything else.
- Rewards before November 2019: 4% dining including Uber Eats, 3% airfare, hotels, vacation rentals, 2% online purchases including Uber, 1% everything else.
- Benefits: (1) Waived foreign transaction fees with en embedded EMV chip. (2) Exclusive Access for events and offers in select U.S. cities.
- Protection: the card includes Cell Phone Protection ($600 in supplemental insurance coverage against theft of, damage to or involuntary and accidental parting of your cell phone not otherwise covered by another insurance policy when you make your total monthly cell phone bill payment with your Uber Visa).
- History: This card was introduced in January 2018 with 4% cashback on dining and an annual $50 credit for online subscription services after you spend $5,000 per membership year. In November 2019, the rewards structure was significantly changed (5% Uber, 3% dining & airfare & hotels) and the $50 subscription credit was dropped.
