[DEAD] Various Citi American Airlines AAdvantage 50,000 miles offers still alive

5/31/2012

We have known that Citi has been pretty good about keeping some application pages alive even after the offer "expired" and the landing page was pulled.  The only thing is that on the application page you won't see the signup bonus specified.  However, for those who haven't got an AAdvantage card yet it is worth a shot.  The past experience tells us that as long as the application page is working you will get the signup bonus.

By using the "three browser trick", you could potentially get 150,000 miles when opening three cards: Amex version, Visa version, and Business version.  You need to spend $3,000 within 4 months.  In addition to 50,000 miles, you also receive $100 statement credit after your 1st AA purchase within 12 months and a companion certificate (lowest fare does not qualify).  And they all come with waivers of 1st year annual fee.

The Visa application page (dead)
The Business Visa application page (still alive as of 12/1/2012)

Finally, there is a slightly better offer for Business Visa: you got 50,000 miles after spending $3,000 within 4 months plus $150 credit after your 1st AA purchase within 12 months and two Admirals Club day passes.  Another good thing (just to make you feel better) is that the landing page is still working.

Our reviews on Amex Centurion and J.P. Morgan Palladium

Amex Centurion, aka the "Black Card", has been around since 1999 and has become a status symbol.  Made of titanium, having a $2,500 annual fee (not to mention the one-time initiation fee of $7,500), packed with airline and hotel elite status, the mysterious black card is the ultimate card to show off, maybe until recently when Chase launched its J.P. Morgan Palladium which is made of 1oz of real palladium (raw material costing over $600) for its most loyal customers.  For details, please check out our reviews on Amex Centurion and J.P. Morgan Palladium.

Four new reviews this week and one new Top Lister

We have four new reviews out this week.

Bank of America's new BankAmericard Travel Rewards has the potential to earn 1.65x on general spending; BankAmericard Privileges with Travel Rewards has a $75 annual fee after the 1st year (there is a waiver if you qualify) and has the potential to earn 2.2x on general spending - now the latter is placed on our Top List.

The new United MileagePlus Club Visa comes with free United Club membership, 1.5 miles per dollar spent - the highest earning rate for United miles from general spending, and a $395 annual fee.

Citi finally enhanced its Platinum Select / AAdvantage cards and it was finally reviewed by us.

The new Fairmont Visa is a great card for people who stay or plan to stay at Fairmont hotels.  And what is more, the two free nights upon signup puts it right on our hot Deals page.

[DEAD] Citi ThankYou Premier up to 60,000 points (1st year free & 2nd year $125)

Citi ThankYou Premier, one of our Top Listers,  is offering up to 60,000 points (up to $798 for travel redemption) as the signup bonus: you earn 30,000 points after spending $2,000 within 3 months and another 30,000 points after spending $2,000 within 3 months of your 1st anniversary.  The 1st annual fee is waived so basically you are paying $125 (plus spending) in exchange of 60K TY points.  The landing page says "offer ends 6/14/12" but we will see how long Citi will keep it alive.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[Update 1/1/2013] The 50K link has expired.
[Analysis 5/12/2012] The old 50K offer (up to $665 for travel redemption) with 1st year annual fee waiver (saving $125) is still alive.  The spending requirement is $2,500 within 3 months.  Considering with the new 60K offer, you only gain an extra 10K points ($133 value for travel) but pay $125 plus $1,500 in spending, the old offer is easier for most people.  However, if you are considering keeping the card after the 1st year, the 60K offer will make more sense.
[Update 7/5/2012] Since this 50K offer allows you to choose between Visa or MasterCard in the application, it is possible to apply both to get 100,000 points.  The key is to make two applications, one for Visa and one for MasterCard, in two browsers on the same day.  If you could get both applications approved, you could earn 100,000 points.
Chase British Airways 100K offer coming back again, but not as great as before!
5/14/2012
[Update 7/23/2012] The two links in the original post is dead now.  However, you may still try the method mentioned in the 7/1/2012 update.
[Update 7/1/2012] The 20K spending requirement of the official 100K offer is quite high.  There is an alternative easier offer - Pay $95 annual fee and get 50,000 points after 1st use and on the anniversary pay another $95 annual fee and get another 50,000 points - essentially you get 100K after paying $190 in annual fees.  Compared to the official offer below, you pay an extra $95 to save $20K spending on the card - to some this is great.  However, there is a little more work you have to do upfront: go to BA.com to make a booking, enter all information until the payment page, then the offer will show up, but you don't need to actually buy the ticket.  Hope this helps!
[Original Post 5/14/2012] Twice in the past, Chase offered 100K for signing up a British Airways Visa.  Those were the most lucrative offers ever made for British Airways credit cards.  Now Chase is bringing it back again, but don't be too excited just yet if you missed the previous two offers.  The spending requirement has been greatly lifted.  This time, you earn 50K after the 1st purchase, an additional 25K after you spend $10K within the 1st year, and an additional 25K after you spend another $10K within the 1st year.  As before, the $95 annual fee is NOT waived.  So basically in order to get the whole 100K Avios (the new name of British Airways miles), you have to spend $20K within a year and pay $95.  I remember the previous offers only required $2.5K spending to get 100K.  For sure, it is not as great as before, but if you missed out the last two times, you may still think about it since 100K is really hard to resist!
