Chase JPM Ritz-Carlton 140,000 points ($395 annual fee, $300 airline credit each calendar year)

12/17/2014

Chase offered a similar 140K offer alongside with a 70K offer with an annual fee waiver back in August for people who are willing to call.  Now it has just made the 140K offer available online.  At this point we don't see a 70K with the annual fee waiver offer available.

In order to get 140,000 Ritz-Carlton points, which are essentially the same as Marriott points, you need to open a new JPM Ritz-Carlton Visa, pay the $395 annual fee, and spend $3,000 within 3 months.  While the $395 annual fee seems high, remember after you take advantage of the annual $300 airline credit your effective annual fee is only $95 and it does come with valuable perks such as Ritz-Carlton & Marriott Gold status for the first year and maintained with $10K spending each year thereafter, three Ritz-Carlton Club level room upgrades each year, unlimited Lounge Club membership, and primary rental car insurance.

Amex Delta Gold SkyMiles up to 100,000 miles plus statement credits (one personal and one business, first year free)

Amex ran a similar offer this August - it was 50,000 miles for each Delta credit card (personal Platinum, business Platinum, personal Gold, business Gold).  Now for a limited time (through December 21, 2014), Amex has brought back 50K offers for Gold SkyMiles cards.  When you open a new personal or business Delta Gold SkyMiles card, you will receive 50,000 miles after you spend $1,000 within 3 months, and a $50 statement credit if you book a Delta flight within 3 months.  The $95 annual fee is waived for the first year.  If you apply both, you will earn 100,000 miles.  However, since Amex has been more strict about opening two cards on the same day, you'd better open one card first and then wait at least a week before applying the second one.

Live again - BofA Virgin Atlantic WEMC 75,000 miles (advertised as 90,000 miles, $90 annual fee)

Similar deals were offered twice earlier this year, in August and then in October.  Now it is back.  When you open a new Virgin Atlantic WEMC and pay the $90 annual fee, you will receive 20,000 miles after the first use, an additional 5,000 miles for adding two authorized users, and an additional 50,000 miles after spending $12,000 within 6 months.  So the total bonus for signing up the card is up to 75,000 miles.  Then upon each anniversary, you will receive 7,500 miles if you spend $15,000 in the previous membership year, and an additional 7,500 miles if you spend $25,000 in the previous membership year.  So it is misleading to call the offer 90K since the 15K annual bonus is a standard feature of the card.

[GONE] Barclays US Airways Premier MasterCard 50,000 miles ($89 annual fee)

After the frequent flyer programs of the American Airlines and US Airways combine sometime early next year, Citi will become the sole issuer of the new American Airlines credit card products.  Barclays, the issuers of the US Airways credit cards, won't be able to accept new applications after that; recently it has introduced two versions of its new American Airlines credit cards for its current customers beyond the merger - Aviator Red MasterCard and Aviator Silver World Elite MasterCard.  Now Barclays has just pushed out arguably the best US Airways credit card signup offer ever to attract as many customers as possible before the merger.  You will receive 50,000 US Airways Dividend miles, which will eventually become American Airlines AAdvantage miles, after you make your first purchase and pay the $89 annual fee.  Previously the best offer was 40,000 miles with an annual fee waiver for the first year plus 10,000 miles every year you pay the annual fee beyond your first anniversary.  So if you haven't have a US Airways credit card, now is the best time to sign up one.
