Citi ThankYou Preferred is now offering 50,000 points at signup and this card has no annual fee. You get 25,000 points after you spend $5,000 within the first 6 months and you earn an additional 25,000 points after you spend $5,000 within the next 6 months. This is probably the best ever signup offer for a non-fee card, meaning that you don't even have to worry about cancelling the card after the 1st year! Dr. Credit Card has no intention to review this card since the earning feature is rather ordinary. However, the signup offer is a terrific one and you can apply both ThankYou Preferred and ThankYou Premier to get a total 100,000 points. What is better is that since you have ThankYou Premier, your points worth 33% more - 100,000 points can be redeemed for $1,333 in travel through ThankYou.

Chase Ink Bold Business Card now offers 50,000 points at signup after you spend $5,000 within 3 months. The first annual fee is waived ($95 saving). Ink Bold is on Dr. Credit Card's to-review list for a while and hopefully the page will be up soon. Our review is up [11/20/2011]. Note that Ink Bold, just like Sapphire Preferred, is part of the Premium Ultimate Rewards program and you can redeem 50,000 points for $625 in travel through UR or transfer them into BA/CO/KE/Hyatt/etc. miles/points. Please see our review on SPG vs. MR vs. UR for details.

J.P. Morgan Select is a relatively new card, a nice addition to Chase's line of premium UR cards to rival Amex (Sapphire Preferred, Ink Bold Business). Capital One 1.5% Cash MC is new while the idea is nothing new. Similar cards I reviewed this week (even they have been out for a while) are Capital One Venture, Discover Escape and FIA Fidelity Visa. The sad news is that more and more people who were grandfathered in on their awesome FIA Charles Schwab Visa which returns 2% cashback with $0 annual fee & $0 foreign transaction fee are getting converted to a not-so-attractive BofA cash rewards card. The Schwab Visa was discontinued to new applications last year and FIA seems giving existing members a year or so the enjoy the free ride. Thanks to this, Capital One is gaining market share with its Venture Card since it also offers 2% rewards and $0 foreign transaction fees, but with a $59 annual fee (waived for 1st year). I really don't know how much longer Fidelity Amex, which is still our benchmark, will be around. |
