Barclays Frontier Airlines World MasterCard up to 50,000 miles & $69 annual fee

6/28/2013

We haven't reviewed Barclays Frontier Airlines World MasterCard yet.  Looks like Barclays is getting pretty aggressive with regards to signup bonus recently.  This offer is advertised as 50,000 miles - you receive 40,000 miles after spending only $500 within 90 days and up to an additional 10,000 miles if you do balance transfer (1 mile for 1 dollar, fees apply).  So in reality this is a 40,000 miles offer for most people.  The $69 annual fee is NOT waived.

The awards chart for Frontier is here.  They don't have first class or business class and they don't fly to many international destinations.  However, awards such as 20,000 miles for rundtrip within Continental U.S. can still be good value.  The 40,000 miles through this offer gets you two roundtrip tickets in coach class in U.S.

Amex BUSINESS Platinum Delta SkyMiles 55,000 miles & 20,000 MQMs & annual fee $150

Amex Business Platinum Delta SkyMiles card shares the same features as the personal version of Platinum Delta SkyMiles card.  While the regular signup bonus for this card is 30,000 miles (5,000 of them are also Delta MQMs), there is a special offer that gives 55,000 miles, 20,000 of which are also MQMs.

You receive 25,000 miles & 5,000 MQMs after the first use, and an additional 30,000 miles & 15,000 MQMs after you spend $5,000 within 3 months.  It is not bad to have 55,000 redeemable miles by signing up a card, and what is more interesting is those 20K MQMs which can be huge for Delta flyers who are working toward status - it puts you almost Silver Medallion (only 5K short) and 40% toward Gold Medallion.  Platinum Delta card also has a built-in miles booster feature - spend $25K and get a boost of 10K miles and spend another $25K and get another 10K miles.  These booster miles are both in RDMs and MQMs.  So if you signup through this offer and spend $50K in a year, you will have a whooping 40K MQMs - 80% toward Gold Medallion without even flying with Delta!  The only thing to note is that the first annual fee ($150) is not waived.  Recently Amex removed the 1st annual fee waiver on its Platinum Delta SkyMiles cards.

Chase Ink Bold and Ink Plus back to 50,000 points each & 1st year free

The temporary 60K offers have expired.  Now Ink Bold and Ink Plus are back to 50,000 points.  However, the spending requirement remains $5,000 (within 3 months), lower than the $10,000 requirement which has been around for a while.  As always, the $95 annual fee is waived for the 1st year.  Again since these two cards are considered two different products, you may get bonus for both.

[All four offers have expired]

For the Small Business Week (June 16 - June 22, 2013), Chase temporarily increases signup bonuses for its Ink Plus credit card and Ink Bold charge card from 50,000 points to 60,000 points each.  Since they are considered two different products, if you sign up and get approved for both, you may earn 120,000 points in total.  Also for each card, the spending requirement to get 60,000 points has been reduced from $10,000 to $5,000 within 3 months!  Note that two other Ink cards - Ink Cash and Ink Classic will have a temporary 5,000 points bump each.

Citi American Airlines credit card offers reduced to 40,000 miles each (up to 120,000 miles in total) & 1st year free

Citibank has been pretty relaxed about the "expired links" until very recently.  While the official offers for Citi American Airlines AAdvantage Cards have been around 30,000 miles each, there were special offers such as 75,000 miles each and 50,000 miles each.  The thing is even though the landing pages (which show the details of the offer) had expired, the actual application pages which show nothing about the signup bonus were kept alive for a long time.  So informed and savvy travelers have been using these links for years - they all got signup bonuses as promised.  Recently Citi finally pulled those links off its website.  The best current offers for these AAdvantage cards are 40,000 miles each.  For each card, you need to spend $3,000 within 3 months to get 40,000 miles and like always the 1st year annual fees are waived.

[GONE] New Southwest Visa 50,000 points each (up to 200,000 points in total) offers & 1st annual fee NOT waived

[Update May 2014] All links have expired.

[Update January 2014] Looks like this has become a regular practice - Chase will keep the links alive for a limited time and then deactivate them for a while before bring them back to live again.  The landing pages never changed and if you can't access them that means they got pulled - no worries just stay put until the next round.  This time the application links are a little different from the previous ones, and even though I believe the old ones still work I just go ahead and replace them with the new ones anyway.  Another thing to note is that after March 31, 2014, the value of Southwest RR points will be devaluated from 1.67 to 1.43 cents a piece, as covered in this blog article.  Please scroll down to the bottom of the post to apply!

[Update November 2013] While those links were pulled for a while, Chase made them available again in late October.  They are using the same links!  So here you go until they get pulled again.

[Original Post June 2013] While the standard offers for Chase Southwest Visa have been always 25,000 points for each card, Chase has run many times the special limited time offers of 50,000 points (=$833 Wanna Get Away fare) for each card.  We have noticed that the previous links for Plus Visa have expires.  Even though the previous links for Premier Visa are still alive, we want to just go ahead and update links for all four cards in this post.

For each card, you need to spend $2,000 within 3 months to get 50,000 points.  The annual fees (noted below) are not waived.  It is pretty safe to open one personal and one business card to get 100,000 points.  If you open two personal cards (or two business cards), you may get 100,000 points but there is a risk.  If you want to push hard, you may try all four at once, and there is a potential to get 200,000 points!

(GONE) Chase Fairmont Visa waives 1st annual fee again && still two free nights upon signup

When Chase first introduced Fairmont Visa, the signup bonus was two free nights with a 1st year annual fee waiver.  However, later on, Chase removed the annual fee waiver so that you would have to pay $95 to get the two free nights.  Now, while the standard offer on Chase website still does not waive the 1st annual fee, there is a special offer through the following link that does come with the waiver.

There is no landing page, but just like the standard offer, you need to spend $1,000 within 3 months to get two free nights plus breakfasts for two (up to $50 per day).  The Pricing and Terms at the bottom of the page does suggest $0 annual fee for the 1st year and $95 thereafter.
