A few 80,000 points/miles offers & Top 10 list updated

A few more recent good signup offers.
Chase Sapphire Reserve now offers 80,000 points at signup - the second best offer after the initial incredible 100,000 points when introduced in 2016.
Citi AA Executive WEMC offers 80,000 miles - the second best offer after 100,000 miles a few years ago.
Barclays AA Aviator Business MC offers 80,000 miles + $95 credit - the historical high.
Barclays Miles & More MC offers 80,000 miles - the historical high.
With some changes in signup bonuses (we look at the historical trend in the recent couple of years) and rewards program valuation, our Top 10 list received some slight updates. Below is the before and after comparison. As you can see, Sapphire Preferred and Aeroplan MC switch places, while Hilton Aspire Amex replaces Barclays JetBlue Plus as the No. 10 card on the list.

Amex Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) 30,000 points each (personal and business) & 1st year free

Amex has offered increased signup bonus to 30,000 points (from the regular 25,000 points) for its Amex SPG, for several summers in a row. Now it is back through September 14, 2015. This time, you will need to spend $3,000 within 3 months to receive 30K points for the personal card version, and you will need to spend $5,000 within 3 months to receive 30K points for the business card version. Our current valuation of Starpoints is 2.25 cents per point, thus the signup bonus for each card will be $675. If you sign up both personal and business cards, you will receive 60,000 points.

Also note that even though the annual fee is waived for the first year, it has been increased from $65 to $95 effective today. However, Amex does bring a few new perks to justify the increase in annual fees: waived foreign transaction fees, complimentary unlimited Boingo Wi-Fi plan, complimentary premium internet at participating Starwood hotels, and finally access to Sheraton Club Lounges for business cardholders. We have updated our review to reflect these changes.

Barclays Lufthansa Miles & More Premier World MasterCard 50,000 miles ($79 annual fee)

Barclays has brought back the 50K signup offer for its Lufthansa Miles & More Premier World MasterCard. Note the $79 is not waived for the 1st year; however it is waived for Lufthansa Senator and HON Circle members. You will receive 20,000 miles after the first use and an additional 30,000 miles after spending $5,000 within 3 months.

You also receive a companion pass after the first use and upon each anniversary; the companion pass is good for coach class on Lufthansa flights from U.S. to Europe/Africa/Middle East/Far East on H fare or above (H fare is between the most discounted fare and full fare) and you still have to pay the taxes and fees for the companion (the fuel surcharge can be pretty high); the details of the companion pass can be found here.

Barclays ran limited time offers of 50,000 miles on the Lufthansa Premier Miles & More World MasterCard twice last year, up from the regular 20,000 miles. Now through June 30, 2014, Barclays is offering 50,000 miles again when you open a new Lufthansa MasterCard: 20,000 miles after the first purchase and an additional 30,000 miles when you spend $2,000 within 90 days. Note the $79 is not waived for the 1st year; however it is waived for Lufthansa Senator and HON Circle members. [Original Post 5/8/13] Barclays Lufthansa Miles & More MasterCard normally comes with a 20,000 miles signup bonus. However, there is a special offer open to public that gives 50,000 miles: you earn 20,000 miles after the first use and an additional 30,000 miles after spending $5,000 within 90 days. The $79 annual fee is not waived for the 1st year. The T&C says that you will be first considered for the Premier World MasterCard, but if you don't qualify you may receive the Platinum MasterCard. This is typical with Barclays cards. However, no matter which version you receive, you will be able to receive the full 50,000 miles once you spend $5,000 within 90 days.

We have no intention to review this credit card product as of now, but will summarize its features here (Premier Wold MasterCard). You earn 2x miles on Lufthansa, and 1x on everything else. You will receive an annual economy class companion pass upon 1st use of the card as well as each anniversary. Since Miles & More is a SPG transfer partner, for general spending you'd better use Amex SPG since it returns 1.25 mile per dollar spent.
