J.P. Morgan Select is a relatively new card, a nice addition to Chase's line of premium UR cards to rival Amex (Sapphire Preferred, Ink Bold Business). Capital One 1.5% Cash MC is new while the idea is nothing new. Similar cards I reviewed this week (even they have been out for a while) are Capital One Venture, Discover Escape and FIA Fidelity Visa.
The sad news is that more and more people who were grandfathered in on their awesome FIA Charles Schwab Visa which returns 2% cashback with $0 annual fee & $0 foreign transaction fee are getting converted to a not-so-attractive BofA cash rewards card. The Schwab Visa was discontinued to new applications last year and FIA seems giving existing members a year or so the enjoy the free ride. Thanks to this, Capital One is gaining market share with its Venture Card since it also offers 2% rewards and $0 foreign transaction fees, but with a $59 annual fee (waived for 1st year). I really don't know how much longer Fidelity Amex, which is still our benchmark, will be around.
